Cable Technician

Cable TechnicianThe Technician I is expected to develop and possess the skills necessary to be an effective member of a technical team. Typically, this role requires one year of experience in the structured cabling industry.ResponsibilitiesInstall work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and walls.Drop cables down walls using fish tape or other methods.Route cables through modular furniture.Perform pre-termination procedures, including organizing, dressing, and labeling cables.Suspend and support cables using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, or trapeze.Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optics, and hardware.Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required.Perform fire-stopping procedures on firewalls, install sleeves, and pull cables through sleeves and core penetrations.Terminate low-voltage devices.Follow blueprints accurately.Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.Essential SkillsExperience in construction and cabling.Proficiency in cable pulling and terminating.Ability to pull fiber and terminate low-voltage devices.OSHA 10 certification.Knowledge of Cat 5, Cat 6, and fiber optic cabling.Additional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of zero to one year of experience in electrical work.Mechanical/electrical aptitude and a willingness to learn.Basic knowledge of the construction industry is preferred.Why Work Here?This position offers a clear career path from Technician 1 to Technician 2, and onward to Lead and Team Lead roles. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 5 AM to 3:30 PM, with an extended schedule from 5 AM to 5:30 PM and work required on Saturdays as needed.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chantilly, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
