About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Reverse Mortgage Underwriter to join a growing team in a fully remote capacity. This role is responsible for reviewing credit, asset, income, and collateral documentation and rendering sound underwriting decisions in accordance with HECM and Reverse Proprietary Product guidelines . The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented FHA DE Underwriter with strong reverse mortgage expertise and a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive reviews of loan files to ensure compliance with company, investor, and FHA guidelines.
• Analyze credit, income, asset, and collateral documentation to make sound underwriting decisions.
• Evaluate files for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
• Identify potential red flags and proactively address underwriting concerns.
• Review third-party reports, fraud reports, judgment searches, and lien searches.
• Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly and professionally.
• Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other mortgage partners to resolve file issues and facilitate loan approvals.
• Maintain company productivity standards and adhere to required underwriting turn times of 24-48 hours.

Required Qualifications

• Approved FHA DE (Direct Endorsement) Underwriter
• Experience underwriting HECM Purchase transactions.
• Minimum of 3 years of Reverse Mortgage Underwriting experience .
• Strong understanding of FHA, HECM, and Reverse Proprietary lending guidelines.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with mortgage operations teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
