**applications submitted via please reference-posting req38090** Under general supervision, candidate participates at all levels in producing at least one news and news analysis program per week to be broadcast on NMPBS — plus additional video, written and audio production duties for news and public affairs programming for various digital platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and podcasting platforms. Performs various other duties for NMPBS as well. New Mexico PBS is looking for a strong television production professional and journalist to help run the state’s premiere weekly news and news analysis show, New Mexico in Focus. NMiF provides ongoing, thoughtful analysis and coverage of issues important to communities across New Mexico. We have the time to dig deeper than most news programs, and both the direction and desire to follow emerging issues as they develop. We want someone with demonstrated skills in studio and field video production, putting together a news show for broadcast and digital platforms and a strong journalistic background. The ideal candidate would have at least some on-camera experience or, at a minimum, a willingness to develop that skill. Applicants should be eager to both lead with ideas and collaborate with the talented team already in place at NMPBS.
You’ll assist in all aspects of show production: editing show segments in Adobe Premiere, building a rundown for each week’s broadcast, identifying topics of public interest and building those into compelling stories, booking guests, preparing scripts and interview questions, and ensuring the accuracy of our final product. Candidates should also have an eye toward engaging and growing our audience in broadcast and digital spaces. In addition, you’ll work closely with the station's communications and marketing team to keep NMiF top of mind in the community and on social media. And you’ll be able to jump in and interview anyone from a voter at a polling place to a candidate for governor. If you’re eager to learn something new, we can teach you and in turn expect you to provide clear production direction and creative input to the production staff, including on-air staff, other producers/directors, interns and students.
