Job Title

Travel RN – Cardiac Med Telemetry (Days)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | 36 hours per week guaranteed | 13-week assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a cardiac medical telemetry population including post cardiac cath, AFib, CHF, stable MI, pacemaker insertion, and general medical overflow patients
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips including insulin drips, Precedex, nitroglycerin, and Cardizem; manage BiPAP as required
• Monitor patients using GE telemetry monitoring equipment, IV pumps, glucometers, and computers; document care using EPIC EMR
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with facility standards
• Perform weekend and on-call duties as required by the facility; float to other units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or hold a current Missouri RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of Stepdown or ICU experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Demonstrated competency with insulin drips, Precedex, nitroglycerin titration, Cardizem, and BiPAP
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for post-operative surgical patients and trauma patients, as the unit accepts this patient population
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR
• Experience with non-titrated cardiac drips and dysrhythmia management
