Job Details Position: Lead Teacher (Full-time, Early Learning Center) Job Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week, 40 weeks/year Shift: Day Location: North Bend, WA 98045 Salary: $42,100.00 – $55,968.00 per year ($25.18 – $34.98/hour) Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision PTO Wellness/EAP Retirement Plan + Match Professional Development Role Overview Lead Teacher promotes an inclusive classroom environment, plans and implements the educational program in accordance with Encompass and Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) Performance Standards. The position leads a classroom team and coordinates with program and organization staff to support each child and their families. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Planning/Preparation: Plans and develops a daily schedule of classroom routines and activities; prepares and implements lesson plans in accordance with the ECEAP performance standards and program service plans; provides an integrated, comprehensive curriculum and multicultural environment that meets the needs of each child, including those with disabilities. Conducts written observations, develops individual learning plans within 90 days of entry, and maintains confidential records. Professional Development: Participates in in‑service trainings, staff meetings, and other opportunities including 10 hours of MERIT approved training annually. In‑Class Responsibilities Implements lesson plans in accordance with standards; provides integrated curriculum. Interacts positively with all children, supporting individual learning and meeting emotional needs. Assists with family‑style meal service and facilitates mealtime conversation. Administers standardized screening tools within 90 days of entry and re‑screens as necessary; refers as needed. Teaches and oversees health habits; provides first aid as needed; monitors safety hazards; collaborates with mental health professionals. Supervises and trains teaching assistants and volunteers; assists with training of family/community volunteers. Family‑Centered Activities Conducts educational planning meetings with families; supports non‑ECEAP families twice each school year. Communicates regularly and respectfully with families, supporting them toward goals. Collaborates in planning and facilitating family events. Participates in interdisciplinary planning for children and families. Works with families to ensure smooth transitions to before‑ and after‑school care and between Encompass and Kindergarten. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development and one year of experience with adults and children, OR Associate’s degree and two years of experience in preschool/childcare/kindergarten, OR Valid Washington State Elementary Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Special Education with emphasis in Early Childhood Education. Required Experience and Skills: Proven strong leadership and communication skills; knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices; desire to address oppression and trauma impacts; effective communication in a diverse environment; adaptability; basic clerical tasks; occasional evening meetings or home visits; supervise students on field trips; motivate team, delegate, respond to feedback. Provisional Hire Requirements: Complete a Professional Development Plan Form and a requirement from the above list within 5 years; other items above must be achieved. Certification and Licenses Required prior to start date: DCYF Portable Background Check; registered in Merit; Food and Beverage Handler’s Permit; TB screening; MMR vaccine. Required within 30 days of hire: First aid and CPR card; Blood Borne Pathogens; Teaching Strategies Gold Inter‑rater reliability certification. Physical Demands Exert 10–20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Activities include sitting, walking, standing, and occasional running.
