Job Details Title: Phlebotomist 5314 Location: Yakima, WA Position Type: Contract (potential for permanent) Projected Duration: 3 months, potential for permanent Job Code: CVDJP00035314 Benefits: Available Schedule 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Alternate schedule: 10:00 AM or 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM – schedule currently being finalized. Responsibilities Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. Updating patient information and collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures. Properly explaining the venipuncture process and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear but courteous manner. Demonstrating technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understanding all physicians' orders and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order. Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Packaging specimens for transport and storing specimen samples according to required temperature, placing samples in appropriate collection containers, and following specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending annual department trainings. Answering telephone calls and reviewing laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Requiring pediatrics and geriatrics experience. Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED.
