Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

This role supports a new floating pool initiative within a manufacturing operation, where you work across multiple departments and cover two different shifts as needed. You receive your shift assignment at least two weeks in advance and perform a variety of tasks such as packing, assembly, machine tending, heat treat racking, and select warehouse functions. You interact with a wide range of team members and build broad, hands-on experience across the business.

Responsibilities

• Cover two different shifts, with shift assignments communicated at least two weeks in advance.
• Perform assembly tasks, following established procedures and quality standards.
• Handle packing and packaging duties, ensuring products are properly prepared for shipment.
• Tend machines by loading materials, monitoring operations, and assisting with basic production activities.
• Support heat treat operations, including racking and handling parts according to safety and process requirements.
• Assist with warehouse functions such as material handling, picking, loading, and inventory support as needed.
• Carry out general labor tasks including cleaning, sweeping, and housekeeping to maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while handling materials, equipment, and products.
• Collaborate with team members in various departments and communicate effectively as you move between areas.
• Retain and apply 4–5 different skill sets across the business to provide coverage for absences and high-demand periods.
• Adapt quickly to new tasks and processes as you are cross-trained in different departments.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of manufacturing experience, or
• At least 6 months of warehousing experience, or
• At least 6 months of assembly experience.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, and housekeeping.
• Experience with production or material handling activities.
• Capability to support packing, packaging, picking, and loading tasks.
• Comfort working in a safety-focused environment and following safety procedures.
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people across multiple departments.
• Capacity to learn, retain, and apply multiple skill sets across different areas of the business.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in environments such as warehouses, heat treat areas, packing departments, or machine operating sections.
• Exposure to inventory support and basic warehouse operations.
• Flexibility to move between departments and shifts based on staffing needs.
• Strong attention to detail when handling products and materials.
• Willingness to be cross-trained in several tasks and functions.

Work Environment

You work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment that may include warehouse floors, heat treat areas, packing departments, and machine operating sections. You go wherever staffing needs are greatest, supporting areas that are short-handed or experiencing higher order volumes. The role involves standing, moving materials, and performing hands-on tasks such as packing, assembly, machine tending, and housekeeping. Safety is a priority, and you follow established procedures while working around production equipment and materials.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Agawam, MA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Agawam,MA.
