Process Engineer

Assembly Process Engineer ( W2 Contract) Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Conversion) Work Arrangement: On-Site Pay Rate: $45-$62/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM About the Role We are seeking an experienced Assembly Process Engineer to support the assembly and integration of a highly complex, large-scale mechanical system in a cutting-edge manufacturing environment. This role will focus on process planning, assembly sequencing, work instruction development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the successful assembly of precision-engineered mechanical systems and subassemblies. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, experience developing technical work instructions, and the ability to work directly with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to translate engineering designs into executable assembly processes. This is a highly collaborative role supporting production, manufacturing, and engineering teams responsible for assembling large, complex equipment in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Develop detailed assembly plans, work instructions, and work packages for complex mechanical assemblies and systems. Collaborate with engineering, design, tooling, and manufacturing teams to determine optimal assembly methods, sequencing, tooling requirements, and safety considerations. Create and maintain clear work instructions for assembly technicians and field personnel. Support assembly planning activities, including handling, positioning, integration, and installation of large mechanical components. Review engineering models and drawings to define assembly strategies and identify potential interferences or accessibility concerns. Develop and maintain assembly documentation, work orders, testing procedures, and traceability records. Support functional mechanical testing, leak testing, pressure testing, and system verification activities. Utilize ERP, MES, and manufacturing systems to support production planning and part traceability requirements. Troubleshoot assembly issues, manufacturing challenges, and nonconformances. Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, efficiency, standardization, and process optimization. Work closely with technicians and manufacturing personnel during assembly execution to ensure processes are successfully implemented. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of experience supporting assembly, manufacturing, integration, or installation of complex mechanical systems. Experience creating and maintaining detailed assembly work instructions, work packages, manufacturing procedures, or technical documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of how complex systems are assembled and integrated. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications. Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience working in manufacturing, production, industrial, aerospace, energy, chemical processing, heavy equipment, or similar technical environments. Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline. Experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD software. Experience using MES, ERP, or manufacturing management systems . Experience supporting manufacturing process development and assembly sequencing. Experience with metrology, precision assembly, or dimensional verification. Experience with high-vacuum systems, pressure systems, or complex industrial equipment. Experience planning or supporting large-component movements and rigging activities. Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement experience. Experience working with large, precision-engineered mechanical assemblies.
