Machine Learning Research Scientist

Summary Join the Reality Labs team at Meta as we push the boundaries of neuromotor interfaces. We are searching for experienced Research Scientists who are passionate about product‑driven machine learning and signal processing research. Building on the pioneering work from CTRL‑labs, we’re developing groundbreaking interfaces that harness the power of non‑invasive surface electromyography (EMG), reaching single motor neuron resolution. This innovative technology has the potential to transform interaction within virtual and augmented environments. As part of our diverse team of researchers, you will explore human neuromotor signals, create cutting‑edge signal processing and machine learning methods, and design novel user experiences. Help us unlock human potential by bridging the gap between user intent and action. Company Meta Responsibilities Research and develop Deep Learning or other advanced computational models. Design tools and infrastructure for analyzing and utilizing extensive multimodal data sets. Guide a project team of 2‑3 researchers and engineers by setting technical direction. Facilitate the transition from research to product, ensuring successful delivery. Customize standard machine learning techniques to fully leverage modern parallel environments, including distributed clusters, multicore systems, and GPU computing. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related disciplines. Proven experience in developing scalable machine learning models and achieving business impact. Strong programming skills in Python and hands‑on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch. Familiarity with architectural patterns of large‑scale software applications. Must have work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain it throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success in research with significant contributions shown through grants, fellowships, patents, or first‑authored publications at notable AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL, ICASSP). Experience in software engineering through internships, relevant work experience, programming competitions, or notable contributions to open‑source projects. Track record of bringing machine learning products from initial research phases to full production.
