The position performs and owns assigned accounting processes while helping develop the policies, procedures, systems, internal controls, and documentation needed to support scalable operations.Immediate responsibilities include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll accounting and processing, general-ledger reconciliations, month-end close, inventory accounting, standard costing, and financial recordkeeping. The position also supports the continued implementation and ongoing use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.A successful candidate must be comfortable accepting a broad range of responsibilities. As transaction volume and business complexity increase, the position is expected to develop more specialized ownership of inventory and cost accounting, financial close, revenue accounting, intercompany accounting, or financial systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Accounts Receivable:Receive, document, and accurately apply customer and non-accounts-receivable payments deposited into each bank account.Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, respond to customer account inquiries, and perform collection activities for delinquent receivables.Reconcile customer payments, invoices, deposits, and accounts receivable records to the general ledger.Maintain complete supporting documentation for customer payments, deposits, credits, and account adjustments.Accounts Payable:Monitor and process invoices received electronically or by mail, verify them against supporting documentation, and retain complete records for accounts payable processing.Review and code credit card transactions.Prepare ACH transactions and related funding transfers for appropriate review and authorization, and maintain complete records of ACH payments, EFT withdrawals, and checks issued.Payroll Accounting and Processing:Process monthly and semimonthly payrolls by gathering approved timekeeping data, calculating and documenting authorized adjustments in Excel, entering payroll into Paychex Flex, and reconciling employee-level details and totals.Track employee travel expenses and process reimbursements as appropriate.Inventory Management and Cost Accounting:Create and maintain bills of materials, including component quantities, units of measure, scrap factors, yields, and production requirements.Establish, document, and update standard costs for materials, labor, overhead, subcontracting, and finished goods, revising them as needed based on purchasing activity, production changes, labor rates, overhead assumptions, and other relevant factors.Calculate and analyze purchase-price, material-usage, labor, overhead, and production variances.Reconcile inventory subledgers and supporting schedules to the general ledger.Monitor negative inventory, obsolete or slow-moving stock, valuation discrepancies, and unusual transactions.Support appropriate inventory reserve and obsolescence calculations.Confirm that inventory is valued consistently with applicable accounting policies.Maintain documentation supporting inventory valuation, standard costing, and cost-of-goods-sold calculations.Revenue Recognition and Applied Accounting:Apply accounting principles to operational transactions, including inventory valuation, standard costing, cost of goods sold, transfer pricing, revenue recognition, accruals, deferrals, and account reconciliations.Prepare and post recurring, adjusting, inventory, revenue, and reclassification journal entries.Maintain supporting schedules for balance-sheet and income-statement accounts.Analyze account activity and investigate unusual balances or period-over-period variances.Reconcile bank, inventory, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue, and intercompany accounts.Calculate and document management fees and shared-service cost allocations using appropriate allocation methodologies and drivers.Support the monthly and year-end close processes.Maintain sufficient documentation and accounting support for management review, external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.Assist with the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Implementation:Support the continued implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, translating accounting and operational requirements into Business Central workflows, system configurations, and reporting structures.Support the configuration of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, inventory, purchasing, sales, manufacturing, costing, and financial-reporting functions.Identify process improvements, reporting opportunities, and controls that can be achieved through Business Central.Future-State Responsibilities:As PECA's business model, transaction volume, and finance organization develop, the Accounting Manager may assume increasing responsibility for:Distributor revenue recognition, including shipment and delivery terms, proof of delivery, returns, rebates, credits, warranties, distributor inventory, and period-end cut-off.Reconciliation of distributor sales, shipments, invoices, payments, and related general-ledger accounts.Distributor-related accruals, deferrals, credits, estimates, and adjustments.CDMO-related accounting and supporting financial schedules.Required Qualifications and Experience:Practical experience performing general accounting, operational accounting, and month-end close activities.Experience developing accounting procedures, internal controls, and system documentation and creating structure where financial processes have not yet been fully defined.Hands-on inventory accounting, bills of materials, standard costing, cost variances, and inventory-to-general-ledger reconciliation experience.Experience implementing Business Central in a manufacturing, distribution, laboratory, or regulated operating environment.Applied knowledge of revenue recognition, transfer pricing, management-fee allocations, intercompany accounting, accrual accounting, and financial-statement preparation.Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience preparing account reconciliations, financial schedules, and variance analyses.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. CMA preferred. Experience with distributor revenue recognition and CDMO accounting.Experience in a medical device, life sciences, manufacturing, distribution, laboratory, or other regulated and inventory-based environment.Position Development:The Accounting Manager is expected to provide broad accounting support during PECA's current stage of growth.
