Visual Inspector

The Visual Inspector performs detailed visual inspection and inking verification of semiconductor wafers, ensuring that wafer maps and good die counts are accurate and fully documented. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work under a microscope for extended periods, and consistent adherence to quality control procedures in a semi-cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual wafer inking verification against wafer maps to confirm accuracy and completeness.
• Verify and record good die counts on wafers in accordance with established quality standards.
• Conduct detailed visual inspections of wafer probes while seated at a bench, using microscopes and other inspection tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints and traveler instructions to ensure wafers meet specified requirements.
• Document discrepancies and nonconformities clearly and accurately on paper and related forms.
• Follow established quality control procedures and manufacturing processes within a wafer fabrication environment.
• Communicate inspection findings clearly through both verbal and written communication to relevant team members.
• Maintain focus and accuracy while performing repetitive inspection tasks in a semi-cleanroom setting.
• Wear and properly use ESD smocks, gloves, masks, hairnets, and other required protective equipment at all times.
• Assist with additional tasks as needed, demonstrating good aptitude and willingness to support production and quality goals.

• At least two years of experience in quality control (QC).
• Proficiency in visual inspection of wafers and wafer probes, including work under a microscope.
• Ability to perform visual wafer inking verification against wafer maps.
• Experience verifying good die counts on wafers.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus for extended periods.
• Blueprint reading skills related to manufacturing and wafer fabrication processes.
• Understanding of wafer fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to follow traveler instructions and established procedures accurately.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to document discrepancies clearly and accurately on paper.
• Capability to work effectively in a semi-cleanroom environment with ESD controls and required protective attire.

• Experience working in a wafer fabrication or semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with general manufacturing and quality control documentation practices.
• Strong auditing mindset with the ability to identify and escalate potential issues.
• Comfort with repetitive, detail-oriented tasks while maintaining high accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate with production and quality teams to support continuous improvement.

Work Environment

This position is based in a semi-cleanroom environment where you wear a smock, bootie covers for shoes, a hair bonnet, and ESD straps to maintain product integrity and safety. You primarily work seated at a bench performing visual inspections under a microscope and using wafer maps and documentation. The shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. The environment follows structured manufacturing and wafer fabrication processes, with a focus on cleanliness, organization, and adherence to quality and ESD control standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Milpitas, CA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
