Spring 2027 Mechanical Engineering Co-op The Mechanical Engineering Co-op will work directly as a member of our product development team, applying their mechanical expertise to implement truly novel solutions to solve customer challenges. They will work closely with the other engineering disciplines to ensure a cohesive system design. Responsibilities will focus on testing, introducing new products into production, and supporting systems fielded at customer sites. This role will be onsite at the Bedford, MA office. This position will run from approximately January to June 2027 (dates flexible).FunctionsDesign parts and assemblies according to system/sub-system requirements.Transform tested conceptual solutions into robust product designs in coordination with engineering, operations, the customer and contract manufacturersDesign and release components and systems using SolidWorksDevelop production and support documentation including bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions.Work with our suppliers, machinists, contract manufacturers, and shippers to guarantee that the right electromechanical system is assembled and functional in the right place at the right time.Perform test and verification of prototype systems.Bring prototype solutions to life with rapid prototyping tools including 3D printer, laser cutter, mill, etc.QualificationsActively pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related fieldExperience with Solidworks (basic principles of design, sheet metal, FEA, etc.)Experience prototyping and using tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers, mills, lathes, etc.Good written and verbal communication skillsMust be curious, eager, open to learning, and independentAbility to spec motors, sensors, and off-the-shelf partsStrong grasp of mechanical systems and mechanismsDFM experience within sheet metal, weldments, machined partsCOOP-2613DepartmentMechanicalEmployment TypeCo-Op (Temporary Employee)Minimum ExperienceEntry-level
