Job Summary

Our client is seeking a dependable Slitter Operator responsible for operating and setting up slitting equipment to produce high-quality thermal transfer ribbons according to customer specifications and the production schedule. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform quality checks and basic machine troubleshooting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and understand production specifications, work orders, and bills of materials.
• Set up slitting machines for each production run, including:
• Installing jumbo rolls.
• Measuring material hardness using durometers.
• Threading film through the machine.
• Setting blades to the required width.
• Programming length, speed, and winding tension.
• Setting up leader tables, tapes, leaders, and trailers.
• Retrieve and install the appropriate cores from inventory.
• Perform initial production runs and verify product quality.
• Complete run-to-run changeovers by removing finished rolls and preparing shafts and cores for the next production run.
• Perform quality inspections using calipers, durometers, and other measuring equipment .
• Complete quality documentation, work orders, and production paperwork accurately.
• Safely operate walk-behind material handling equipment.
• Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain production and quality standards.
• Perform basic machine troubleshooting, including adjustments to:
• Machine speed
• Winding tension
• Brake tension
• Respond to film breaks by safely stopping the machine, cutting broken film, and rethreading the material.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and production requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequent walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and rotating while performing job duties.
• Ability to occasionally lift approximately 10–35 pounds .
• Ability to carry, pull, or move materials weighing approximately 10–35 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally use walk-behind material handling equipment to move loads of approximately 300 pounds .
• Ability to work around operating machinery, moving parts, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
• Good depth perception and ability to safely work around machinery.
• Ability to communicate effectively and hear at a conversational level.

Work Environment

• Indoor manufacturing/production environment.
• Regular exposure to machinery and moving equipment.
• May work around forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Safety shoes are required.
• Must follow all established safety procedures and PPE requirements.
