Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for performing cardio-pulmonary evaluations, providing respiratory care, managing life support, and educating patients, families, and the community. This role requires the ability to work with both inpatients and outpatients of all ages who exhibit deficiencies and abnormalities in their cardiopulmonary systems. Therapists follow established protocols or physician prescriptions and can provide respiratory care duties across various areas within the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct cardio-pulmonary evaluations to assess patient needs.
• Administer respiratory care according to established protocols or physician instructions.
• Provide life support and other respiratory therapies as required.
• Educate patients, families, and the community about respiratory health and treatments.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Manage respiratory care equipment and ensure proper functioning.

Qualifications

• Currently holds a valid New York State License.
• Must be registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Completion of an Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Experience in Labor & Delivery/Neonatal Resuscitation is required.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in critical care respiratory therapy.

Shift Information

Schedule: 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, for a total of 36 hours per week. Weekend and on-call requirements are to be determined.

Additional Requirements

All new and returning agency staff are required to complete training from an approved training organization prior to onboarding.

COVID vaccination is encouraged but not mandatory.
