Department: Operations & Engagement Reports to: Director of Operations & Engagement Status: Full-Time, Generally Mon-Fri Position Summary The Studio Manager leads the Delaware Art Museum’s Studio programs, creating welcoming, accessible opportunities for people of all ages to explore art and creativity. The position develops, implements, and evaluates classes, camps, workshops, and other creative learning experiences taught by an instructor corps of independent contractors, while ensuring programs are organized, financially sustainable, and aligned with the Museum’s mission and strategic priorities. The ideal candidate is an energetic, collaborative problem-solver who understands that excellent arts programming requires both imagination and strong systems. Develop and manage a dynamic schedule of classes, workshops, camps, and special offerings for youth, adults, and multigenerational audiences. Create programs that encourage creativity, experimentation, and connection to the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, and community. Identify opportunities to expand audiences and respond to community interests and needs. Collaborate across departments to advance access, engagement, and earned revenue and support a cohesive Museum visitor experience. Manage calendars, registration, rosters, room assignments, supplies, and logistics using Altru, the Museum’s Blackbaud database system. Develop systems and procedures that support efficient, safe operations and positive program experiences. Coordinate Studio use with rentals, events, exhibitions, and facility needs. Develop and manage Studio budgets in collaboration with supervisor; monitor enrollment, revenue, expenses, staffing costs, and program performance. Contribute to Museum-wide events and initiatives, including Happy Hours, cultural festivals, special exhibitions, and membership activities. Participate in departmental planning, staff meetings, and strategic initiatives and goals. Instructors & Staff Recruit, onboard, schedule, and manage contracted instructor corps of 20+, 2 seasonal camp counselors, 3-5 studio monitors, and other Studio staff and volunteers. Establish expectations for program quality, customer service, classroom management, safety, and communication; observe programs and provide ongoing feedback and evaluation. Manage purchasing, supplies, invoices, contracts, and related administrative responsibilities. Foster an environment where participants of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and experience levels feel welcome. Identify and address barriers to participation and advance accessibility and inclusion. Create opportunities to introduce new audiences to the Museum through hands-on creative experiences. Respond to participant questions, concerns, and feedback professionally and with a solutions-oriented approach. Produce a quarterly Studio newsletter highlighting upcoming offerings and instructors. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in art education, arts administration, studio art, education, or a related field. Experience developing and managing arts, education, or creative programming and supervising staff, teaching artists, contractors, or instructors. Strong organizational, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience managing program budgets and monitoring revenue and expenses. Commitment to welcoming, inclusive, and accessible learning environments. Preferred Experience developing programs for multiple age groups and working with artists and independent contractors. Experience with education registration or customer relationship management (CRM) database systems. This position is primarily onsite and requires regular interaction with participants, instructors, staff, and visitors. Some evening and weekend work is required. The position involves active studio environments and may require lifting and moving supplies, equipment, furniture, and other materials. Success in This Role Success means building a Studio program that is creative, welcoming, well-run, financially sustainable, and increasingly connected to the broader community. The Studio Manager will help grow participation and earned revenue while keeping the quality of the participant experience at the center of the program. Compensation and Benefits The salary range is $49,000 – $61,500. FT Employees are eligible for a medical, dental and vision insurance, 403(b) plan, paid vacation and sick time, museum membership, employee discounts and free parking.
