South Statesville Junior Police Ambassador (Part-Time) Police Department Salary Rate: $15.30 Hourly FLSA Position Class: Part-time, Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Varies: Weekdays 4:00-8:00 Saturdays 9 am -2:00 pm Posting Closing Date: September 9, 2026 Summary This position is responsible for assisting with community outreach activities and youth engagement programs sponsored by the Statesville Police Department, including City-sponsored events, educational programs, and community functions within South Statesville. NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Leads groups of children in age-appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, special events, and field trips. Assists in the set-up/breakdown of the display table, canopy, generator, etc. Adheres to departmental policies governing public safety and quality services. Ensures proper safety precautions are observed during assigned activities and free play. Maintains, cleans, and cares for departmental equipment. Participates in special community events. Assists in organizing and promoting Statesville Police Department activities, classes, camps, and other community programs. Encourages participation, teamwork, and good sportsmanship among youth participants. Attends all meetings and training related to their job description. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience Currently enrolled in High School. At least one (1) year of experience in volunteering or community service work. Other Requirements Must be at least 15 years of age. GPA of 2.5 or higher. No school expulsions in the past one (1) year. No school disciplinary actions in the last (6) months. Letter of Recommendation from a teacher and/or community leader. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of program planning for a variety of ages, backgrounds, and community groups. General knowledge of basic safety rules and regulations regarding activities. Ability to participate in a variety of Statesville Police Department events / programs. Ability to interpret and explain rules and regulations regarding the programs. Ability to establish and maintain discipline, organized structure, and safety for youth in group settings. Ability to efficiently work in a busy environment with constant distractions. Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, participants, and parents/guardians. Job Related Physical Requirements This position involves medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may require the use of fingers and hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and to convey detailed or important instructions to others; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of machines or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Working Conditions The employee is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions including extreme heat, humidity, noise, and hazards including proximity to moving equipment.
