Facilities & Utilities Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Facilities & Utilities Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in San Juan, PR, supporting a manufacturing operation in the food industry. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with experience in utilities, facilities, maintenance, or plant engineering who enjoys solving operational challenges and improving equipment reliability.

The Facilities & Utilities Engineer will support the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of critical plant utility systems and infrastructure. This includes HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, compressed air, water, steam, and related industrial facility systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee and follow up on the operation, maintenance, and performance of plant utilities and facility systems.
- Coordinate and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs to support reliable plant operations.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, participate in root cause analysis, and support solutions that improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Coordinate maintenance activities, service work, and projects with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and external providers.
- Support facility improvement projects, equipment installations, energy efficiency initiatives, and process optimization efforts.
- Maintain maintenance records, technical documentation, reports, and compliance with safety, quality, GMP, and environmental procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $65,000 to $70,000 annually.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Employment Type: Direct Hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills 

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

- Relevant experience in utilities, facilities, maintenance, plant engineering, or a similar industrial engineering role.

- Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

- Knowledge of utility systems, facility infrastructure, industrial equipment, and maintenance practices.

- Knowledge of troubleshooting, problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods.

- Familiarity with industrial safety practices, quality procedures, GMP requirements, and environmental compliance expectations.

- Strong communication, organization, analytical thinking, teamwork, and follow-up skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, maintenance activities, and operational needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
