You’ll inspect the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, agreements for work, and may provide construction inspection support. You’ll conduct comprehensive daily inspections of mechanical and plumbing systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications, review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. You’ll demonstrate strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner. You’ll verify contractor compliance with local and national mechanical and plumbing codes, and LAWA-specific standards. You’ll track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities You’ll assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values. You’ll support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed. You’ll perform inspections of Mechanical and Plumbing installations including, but not limited to: Domestic Water and Sewage Systems Venting, fire sprinklers, and gas piping HVAC systems (air handlers, chillers, boilers, ductwork) Smoke Control Systems Mechanical ventilation and exhaust Fire and life safety integration (e.g. smoke dampers) Mechanical and plumbing shutdowns, lockout / tagout procedures Commissioning and balancing reports Underground utilities Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems Onsite at client site : The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.You may be required to work various shifts, including day, swing, and night. High School diploma (or equivalent) 3 years or more of experience performing mechanical inspections on large scalePublic Works type projects Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector 30-hour Cal-OSHA training received within the last 4 years prior to assignment Additional Current ICC certifications as commercial Plumbing Inspector NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years is preferred Training & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72 is preferred Experience at the journey-level as an electrician, with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings Plumbing experience (journeyman/master level) with progression into inspection Experience inspecting mechanical systems of large-scale commercial, industrial or public buildings Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards We believe that no one should be discriminated against because of their differences.
