Family Support Center Assistant

The Children's Home Society's Huntington Office Has a Vacancy For a Family Support Center Assistant. Essential Functions Are As Follows: Promote, teach, and demonstrate to children and families under the direction and supervision of the social worker and program director, parenting skills training and support, life skills development, healthy relationships, budgeting, etc. Provide transportation. Provide appropriate documentation of services Obtain emergency food, clothing, and other basic needs for children and their families. Provide meaningful observations of the children and families and make appropriate recommendations. Establish and maintain a positive relationship with the parent through honest and concerned interactions, active listening and provide encouragement and support through positive role modeling. Help parents become involved in activities with their children while modeling positive and appropriate interaction with their children. Provide parents with education on child development, appropriate discipline, and appropriate and consistent child management techniques. Provide support to help remove barriers to employment. Link participants with safety net services such as childcare, education, employment, transportation. Act as a liaison between participants and other agencies, organizations and partners. Assist participants in crisis situations involving social, emotional, health or other problems. Commit to family stability through the development of skills in assessing risk to children and in working with families. Ensure all activities, services and programs are conducted in a manner that is sensitive to and shows respect for the culture and ethnicity of our clients. Comply with professional standards as specified in the NASW Code of Ethics, including enforcing confidentiality policies and advocating for families and clients. Advocate for children and families and engage the community in awareness and involvement. Commit to permanency of every child. Requirements : High School Diploma or GED; demonstrated ability to work with children, families; driver's license; available automobile and insurance coverage as required by law and agency; training and credentialing as required by the agency; criminal background and child abuse registry checks; 24-hour availability to work with irregular hours; ability to work under pressure and multitask; annual approved physical and TB documentation. #J-18808-Ljbffr Children's Home Society of West Virginia
