You check them in and verify their insurance and personal information on their records. As you manage patient files, records, and other information, you always maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.You find this medical assisting role rewarding because you get to help deliver primary health care and patient care management. Before patients arrive, you ensure that exam and treatment rooms are stocked with the necessary instruments and supplies and everything is sterilized. To prepare patients to see the physician, you gently obtain their vitals and determine the nature of their visit. Focused on delivering patient-focused care at all times, you assist physicians by preparing patients for minor surgeries and physicals, as well as by giving injections and applying splints and dressings.In addition to your medical assisting responsibilities, you also handle a variety of office duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, screening calls, relaying messages by phone or mail, and answering patient questions about general policies and procedures. In your downtime, you are sure to keep your work area and the lobby neat and orderly.
