This position reports to the Middle School Principal. Job Details The math classroom focuses on deep student thinking, problem‑solving, and active engagement. Classes center on challenging tasks to promote productive struggle, independent reasoning, and strong conceptual understanding. Key Qualifications Belief in the school’s core values: scholarship, belonging, passion, responsibility, and integrity. Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant subject area (required). Minimum of two years of teaching experience in an urban public or charter school (preferred). Passed Massachusetts Test for Educational Licensure (MTEL) and SEI endorsement or willingness to obtain certification. Knowledge/experience in subject area expertise, child/adolescent development, and leading diverse groups. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, understanding how identity impacts work. Responsibilities Use campus schedule 7:30‑4:30 p.m. to teach 4‑5 of 7 periods daily (4 content, 1 intervention). Plan, grade, and instruct effectively; maintain student accountability. Cover and supervise students during non‑classroom times as per position. Attend weekly meetings/professional development and receive coaching. Practice anti‑racist and restorative justice approaches in relationships. Communicate and collaborate with colleagues, students, and families. Use data regularly to drive decisions. Seek and apply feedback for continuous improvement. Contribute to school and position‑based teams. Compensation & Benefits The position is on the Instructional salary scale based on prior experience: $62,500 – $97,475. Additional compensation for advanced degrees or Special Education license.
