Country United States of America State / County Ohio City Toronto Division Metals Company Toronto Function Engineering Workplace Type On-Site Position type Full Time 24212 Chief Metallurgist, TIMET Toronto OH Summary This position is responsible for all technical and metallurgical quality aspects of the products manufactured by the TIMET Toronto production department in which the Chief Metallurgist operates. Essential Functions The oversight and planning of the metallurgical processes of the applicable Toronto production department, including: Ensuring that the product is capable of meeting the customer requirements. Ensuring that the customer approval and fixed practice requirements are followed. Ensuring that the processes are optimized for cost and operational efficiency. Planning DOE's and MPE's to improve process capability. Working with the Operations and Planning group to facilitate material movement through the department. Working with the OSC to develop subcontractor approvals and agree process routes. Working with the ADT to Coordinate the introduction of new products or processes into standard production. Define product process capability and ensure that contract review process results in acknowledgement of orders that have proven capability, or that appropriate exceptions or risks (in case of developmental products or process) are communicated: Review non-standard orders and poor process capability orders. Review basis specifications and consult with tech edit on capabilities versus requirements. Define test requirements. Maintain FTP databases and address causes of non-conformance. Manage the customer relationships Comment and negotiate on specification technical requirements. Provide resolution to customer technical questions/problems Answer customer complaints of a technical nature. Manage customer process qualifications, approvals and metallurgical offers. Develop strong relationships with counterparts at customers and end users. Participate in customer visits and audits and appropriately address resultant actions. Provide technical leadership within the department: Supervise, train and develop product metallurgists. Educate production personnel in metallurgical and quality assurance requirements. Liaise with research group, sales and applications development team(s) on new product/process development. Facilitate communication and achievement of company and plant goals and objectives This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
