Estimator

As an Estimator, you will review and analyze project plans, specifications, including drawings and schedules, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project's scope and requirements. You will prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, encompassing labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor services, and other associated expenses.

Responsibilities

• Utilize industry-standard software and tools to generate estimates, ensuring precision and consistency in the estimation process.
• Account for factors such as market conditions, labor rates, and material costs.
• Collaborate with the bid team to develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements and specifications.
• Participate in bid meetings and presentations, providing insights into the estimation process and the rationale behind pricing decisions.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing for materials and services.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and information.
• Prepare regular reports and summaries on cost tracking and estimating accuracy.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 8 years of experience working in electrical estimating.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field/equivalent experience is preferred.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Suite.
• Proven experience as an electrical estimator in the construction industry, preferably with expertise in electrical systems and installations.
• Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices and materials.
• Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software and tools.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with the local construction market and regulations is advantageous.

Work Environment

The position is based on-site, allowing you to engage directly with projects and teams. You will be part of a diverse team that brings experience and expertise to electrical contracting projects across various industries, including rail systems, transit facilities, office buildings, hospitals, renewable energy, and more.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Island City, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
