District Manager

Buffalo Rapids Irrigation District No. 2 is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the District Manager. Buffalo Rapids Irrigation District No. 2 is a Bureau of Reclamation irrigation project serving agricultural water users in Eastern Montana since 1945. The District diverts water from the Yellowstone River and delivers irrigation water to 11,621 acres through over 65 miles of canals and laterals. The District Manager is responsible for the oversight of all staff, operations, maintenance and construction in the District, as well as administration of the District, under the direction of a 3-member, elected board of directors. Responsibilities include managing efficient water delivery to irrigation users in 3 divisions, oversight of District financial operations, hiring and supervising District employees, maintaining efficacy and productivity of all District operations, and acting as the foreman of all construction and infrastructure improvement projects. The Manager also acts as the District representative to all outside entities. Requirements include: valid Montana driver's license, CDL preferred, but not required; at least 5 years heavy equipment operation experience; ability to lift over 50 pounds; high school diploma or GED equivalent; strong communication skills; experience with pump operation, large water systems, and crop irrigation systems; experience in a foreman or supervisory role in project management; at least 5 years management experience. Preferred candidates will also have experience in pipeline construction and working within a local government entity, special purpose district, or under the direction of a board of directors. This is an exempt position with salary and additional benefits negotiated under an annual contract. Wage range is $54,000 - $76,000 depending on experience.
