Position Purpose Perform numerous functions including processing deposits, withdrawals, posting to general ledger accounts, cashing negotiable items, processing loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier’s checks while promoting the bank’s products and services and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities Assumes responsibility for efficient, effective, and accurate teller functions. Receives and processes deposits and loan payments. Cash checks and other negotiable instruments for clients. Examines documents for endorsements and negotiability. Processes transfers between accounts. Sells traveler’s checks, official checks, and money orders. Processes credit card cash advances. Verifies and balances cash daily, detecting and resolving discrepancies promptly. Offers other bank products to meet customer needs and strengthen relationships. Maintains compliance with teller procedures and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned. Establishes and maintains effective, professional business relations with clients. Ensures client requests and inquiries are resolved promptly. Operates online teller terminal. Makes customer information private and secure. Maintains the bank’s quality reputation. Coordinates and collaborates with area personnel and management. Assists area personnel as required. Participates in training and orientation as needed. Keeps supervisor informed of activities and concerns. Completes reports and records accurately and promptly. Attends required meetings and training sessions, including evenings and Saturdays. Performs related duties as assigned. Completes night drop functions. Performs clerical duties as needed. Ensures work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained. Cross‑sell bank products and services. Performance Expectations Teller functions are performed efficiently, effectively, and accurately. Cash balances and discrepancies are managed promptly. Strong client and area relationships are maintained. Reports and records are accurate and timely. Continuous opportunities to sell bank products are pursued. Professional reputation of the bank is upheld. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. At least one year of related experience/cash handling; prior teller experience preferred. Professional appearance, dress, and attitude. Good typing and math skills. Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment such as adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin, money counting machine, and telephone. Knowledge of bank operations and relevant software (IVIEW, Integrated Teller, WITS/Wires, Dual Control, etc.) is preferred. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Physical & Mental Requirements Regular talking and hearing are required. Finger dexterity for typing and handling small objects. Repetitive motion using wrists and hands. Average visual acuity for reading documents. Sedentary work; may exert up to 10 lbs occasionally. Reasoning and basic mathematics abilities necessary for problem solving and transaction processing.
