Universal Systems is seeking an experienced Low Voltage Technician with a strong background in security systems to join our growing team. This position involves installation, service, and troubleshooting of residential and commercial low voltage systems including alarm systems, surveillance, access control, A/V distribution, Automation systems, network systems and more.
We are looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and alongside a team.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and troubleshoot:
- Burglar alarm systems (DSC, Honeywell/Ademco, Napco, etc.)
- CCTV systems (IP cameras, NVRs)
- Access control systems (keypads, card readers, gate operators)
- Run and terminate low voltage wiring (Cat5/6, coax, etc.)
- Program and configure control panels and devices
- Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly with clients
- Maintain accurate job documentation and reports
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in low voltage or security system installation
- Strong knowledge of alarm systems, CCTV, and access control
- Experience with DSC, Honeywell, Alarm.com (preferred)
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with home automation (Crestron, Control4, etc.)
- Networking knowledge (IP addressing, routers, switches)
- Texas security license or ability to obtain one
