Counselor

The Counselor performs therapy services for research participants during clinical trials in Psychiatry and Health Behavior.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Screen Participants for Eligibility Prepare them mentally for the experience Support them during sessions Help integrate the experience afterward Ensure safety and compliance with research protocols Participation Days Run pre-session prep visits (60-120 min) Facilitate or co-facilitate psychedelic dosing sessions (6-8+ hours) Monitor: emotional response and vital signs (with medical team) Stay present the entire session Non-Session (Participant Days) Conduct screening interviews Do integration therapy sessions Enter clinical notes & research data Attend supervision meetings, protocol training, and safety reviews Other Perform other related duties as assigned

Educational Requirements Master's degree from an accredited college or university in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, marital and family therapy, or another similar mental health field. Employee must be license eligible to become fully licensed to provide mental health services and treatment Independently, in the state of Georgia.

ABILITIES Ability to maintain confidentiality Detail-oriented Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position) Pay Band: 9 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: 5/28/26 - Until Filled Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees.
