Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Controls Engineer at our Plymouth, Michigan manufacturing facility. In this role, you will design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot control and automation systems that support manufacturing efficiency, quality, safety, and reliability.

• Pay: $80,000-$100,000 per year

What You'll Do as a Controls Engineer

• Design, develop, and implement automation systems for manufacturing and related processes using control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
• Develop new and modify existing PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications and interfaces to meet operational requirements.
• Support the setup and commissioning of new manufacturing facilities and upgrades to existing control systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve control system malfunctions and complex technical issues.
• Recommend system improvements that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, quality, and performance.
• Create and maintain detailed specifications, system configurations, operational procedures, and other technical documentation.
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to support the effective deployment and operation of control systems.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2-4 years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering, PLC programming, HMI development, and automation.
• Strong understanding of control systems, PLC programming platforms such as Siemens and Rockwell, HMI development, and embedded systems.
• Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions.
• Solid math and analytical abilities for problem-solving and system optimization.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in technical work and documentation.
