About This Role

The Teacher is responsible for daily teaching, coordinating and implementing curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. The Teacher must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to provide a safe, nurturing, faith-centered, and stimulating learning environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues, and leadership; guide teacher assistants and classroom volunteers; and support the overall quality and mission of LIFE Kidz Academy.

This position reports to the Site Director.

• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices, early learning standards, and the Academy's curriculum expectations.
• Plan and facilitate individual and group age-appropriate activities that promote social-emotional, cognitive, language, literacy, mathematical, physical, creative, and spiritual development.
• Integrate age-appropriate faith-based lessons, prayer, biblical principles, and character development into the classroom experience in alignment with LIFE Kidz Academy expectations.
• Prepare and maintain lesson plans, classroom schedules, learning centers, materials, and documentation required by the Site Director.
• Lead by example and contribute to teaching-team success through modeling, collaboration, communication, and appropriate coaching of teacher assistants and volunteers.
• Maintain frequent and professional communication with parents and guardians through informal discussions, progress reports, conferences, classroom updates, and other approved communication methods.
• Observe children's development and maintain accurate records of progress, classroom incidents, attendance, required forms, and other program documentation.
• Ensure all LIFE Kidz Academy policies, Texas child-care licensing requirements, Texas Rising Star expectations, and applicable health and safety procedures are consistently followed.
• Maintain a healthy, organized, and welcoming classroom environment, including appropriate hygiene, sanitation, cleanliness, supervision, safety, and security practices.
• Actively supervise children at all times and maintain required staff-to-child ratios and classroom accountability procedures.
• Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure planned activities, routines, hygiene practices, supervision expectations, and safety standards are followed.
• Participate in classroom observations, quality-improvement activities, staff meetings, professional development, licensing preparation, Texas Rising Star preparation, and other Academy initiatives.
• Maintain a personal professional development plan and complete all required annual training hours, certifications, and professional learning within established timelines.
• Support Academy-wide events, family engagement opportunities, field trips, special programs, and other activities as assigned.
• Perform other duties reasonably related to the position and the successful operation of the preschool.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of professional child-care or early childhood education experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer/technology skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, families, coworkers, leadership, and community partners and to foster a positive team environment.
• Strong understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, positive guidance, classroom management, and early learning.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to receive feedback, follow direction, maintain professionalism, and demonstrate reliability and accountability.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain and maintain required certification.
• Must meet all applicable background-check, health, orientation, and eligibility requirements for employment in a licensed child-care program.

Educational Requirements

• CDA, Associate's Degree, or higher in early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field is preferred.
• Candidates must meet all education, orientation, and training requirements applicable to their assigned role under state child-care licensing and policies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently walk, stand, sit, reach, use hands and fingers, handle classroom objects and materials, and communicate with and hear children and adults at varying voice levels.
• Ability to kneel, bend, squat, crawl, move throughout indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and respond quickly when necessary for child supervision and safety.
• Vision abilities necessary for active supervision, including near and distance vision, color recognition, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
