Customer Service Representative

Location: Des Moines, IA | Corporate Office Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of a Customer Service Rep is to manage ongoing relationships with customers within a designated area by accepting freight, resolving issues, and maintaining customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and maintain relationships with customers Obtain and upkeep driver and company productivity goals are being met Review a list on incoming trucks while speaking directly with customers to take load information and book freight on all available trucks Maintain assigned territory of customers Maintain and log pre-booked freight that cannot be immediately assigned Contact new and existing customers to solicit additional freight, as necessary to load trucks within the designated area Research and resolve customer inquiries and problem Effectively communicate with customers, sales, fleet managers, and other internal personnel Participate in total quality management and process improvement teams Utilize web-based technology to gather and track operation data Enter customer data and shipping instructions into a computer database

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics and/or relevant experience Fluent in keyboard proficiency and 10-key Ability to plan, organize, be attentive to detail and possess strong problem-solving skills Strong customer solicitation skills Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
