Role Description The Cardiovascular Sonography Instructor is a full-time, on-site role based in Morgantown, WV. This position is responsible for delivering classroom, laboratory, and simulation-based instruction in cardiovascular sonography, including cardiac and vascular imaging principles, protocols, and techniques. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching didactic and practical courses, supervising students during lab and clinical practice, assessing student performance, and providing constructive feedback and academic support. The instructor collaborates with colleagues to refine curriculum, maintain instructional materials and equipment, and ensure alignment with accreditation and professional standards. Additional duties may include mentoring students, participating in faculty meetings and committees, and engaging in professional development to remain current with advances in sonographic technology and clinical practice.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong instructional skills, including lesson planning, classroom and lab teaching, student assessment, and academic advising.
  • Candidates should possess clinical expertise in cardiovascular sonography, including cardiac and vascular imaging, sonographic protocols, patient care techniques, and familiarity with diagnostic equipment.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills to support diverse learners, collaborate with colleagues, and build positive relationships with clinical partners.
  • Candidates should possess organizational and time-management skills to balance teaching, grading, curriculum development, and participation in program activities.
  • Relevant certifications such as RDCS, RCS, or RVT, along with a graduate of an accredited sonography program, are highly beneficial.
  • Teaching experience in allied health or sonography programs and familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., CAAHEP) are preferred.
  • A minimum of an associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography or a related field is required; a bachelor’s degree or higher in a health or education-related discipline is advantageous.
