SAFY is seeking a full time Peer Specialist (Mobile Crisis) for our Aurora division in Colorado . As a Peer Specialist , you will provide a wide range of support services with children, adolescents, and identified adults. Assist Mobile Crisis Team members, families and clients by coordinating, identifying local resources and assisting with case management duties. Serving the Denver Metro area. What You’ll Do Provides support to Mobile Crisis Team members during assessments/evaluations that are completed in community settings. Assist in the assessment of a client’s behavioral health status and provides evidence-based intervention strategies. Provides telephone and short-term face-to-face interventions to help stabilize people in crisis and prevent further criminal justice involvement, or hospitalization when possible Performs a wide variety of non-clinical tasks to assist clients in regaining control over their own lives and recovery process, in partnership with Mobile Crisis Responders, Leads or Shift Supervisors. Providing insight into your own lived experience and practical guidance, Peer Specialist help individuals to develop their own goals, create strategies for self-empowerment, and take concrete steps towards building fulfilling, self-determined lives for themselves. Will support individuals in recovery to connect with their own inner strength, motivation, and desire to move forward in life, even when experience challenges. Documents all patient contacts and other clinical information. Supports the Mobile Crisis team with community outreach, resources, and education. Other Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of SAFY staff by participating in joint meetings, and problem identification and resolution. Establish and maintain a supportive and positive working relationship with youth, foster parents, referring agencies, and other SAFY stake holders. Attend relevant in-house and external seminars, trainings, conferences, and workshops to develop and enhance knowledge in the designated area as well as achieve relevant education hours per year to enhance professional and job-related skills. Attends required meetings within division, region, and central office (team and/or community partners). Participate in assigned committees and chairs if so appointed. If appointed, maintains liaisons with state and national organizations. Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss issues and performance. Submit monthly/quarterly reports to immediate supervisor. Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences of staff, SAFY youth, foster parents, referral sources and the public. Agency agrees to provide Mobile Crisis Services in response to requests from community corrections facilities, detention facilities, jails, courts, pretrial services, probation and parole offices, and any other adult or juvenile justice service in the community unless similar services are already offered in that location and would create duplicative application of services. Will be able to collaborate with and may include existing Co-Responder and Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) programs as part of the mobile response network. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required. Peer Support Certification required. Bachelor’s degree in the field of social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy or other approved related field of human services preferred. At least one year of experience as a Peer Specialist, 2 years preferred. Two years of relevant experience preferred in the field of mental health/therapeutic intervention with children, adolescents, families, and older adults/geriatric. Is a IC&RC Certified Peer or Family Specialist or will be certified by the deadline mapped out within the Mobile Crisis program Contract. Has the experience of living with a psychiatric disorder and/or substance use disorder. Offers their unique lived experience with behavioral health conditions to provide support focuses on advocacy, education, mentoring & motivation. Has personal experience with substance use recovery or is a support person with OUD or other substance use disorders. 40 hours of Competency in Peer Specialist required, or in progress/completed within 90 days of employment. Additional training and/or certifications in trauma informed care, HIPPA, substance use, etc.preferred What We Offer Targeted hiring range: $43,900-$47,000 Compensation is commensurate with transferrable experience, education and licensure of candidate, location of the position, along with internal equity and budgeted amount for the role.
