Amazon is one of the most recognizable brand names in the world and we distribute over a billion shipments each year to our loyal customers.The Transportation Operations Manager has complete responsibility for Transportation Operations at a number of sites within a pre-defined region of the country. This position requires a candidate with the proven ability to drive process improvements and the ability to keep pace with our explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment.Supervisory Responsibilities:Lead and supervise a team of Transportation Area Managers that are located within the individual sites in an effort to streamline logistics within each individual operationResponsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of your regionCarry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and proceduresAccountability for meeting and exceeding operational goalsStrategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and coach employees; resolve problems; address staffing needsMentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learningAbility to develop and share best practices across the shifts and networkTravel up to 50% may be requiredCandidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidaysBasic Qualifications:3+ years of employee and performance management experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experienceWork a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidaysPreferred Qualifications:1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experienceExperience managing a team of 2+ salaried employees and 70+ indirect employeesExperience scoping, leading, and implementing process improvements through: Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma.Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skillsExcellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skillsTrack record of meeting or exceeding department performance goalsA Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
