Patient Access Associate – Nebraska Medicine Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Seniority: Sr Patient Access Associate Location: Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE Position Highlights Work in high-volume, fast-paced, time-sensitive environments Interact with patients face-to-face and at bedside Accurately handle sensitive financial and insurance information in real time Maintain professionalism in stressful or emotionally charged situations Float and cross-train across departments as needed Schedule Full-Time (40 hours/week) Wednesday - Sunday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Training Schedule Full-time for the first 3 weeks: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Training is required, non-negotiable, and must be completed before transitioning to the regular schedule. Duties Ensure patients and customers are greeted in a professional, timely, and efficient manner. Create accounts accurately and efficiently to optimize cash flow while exceeding customer expectations. Comply with all state and federal regulations and laws throughout scheduling confirmation, pre-registration, admission, insurance verification, payment receipting, and patient wayfinding/escorting. Cover the position 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including needs in various areas such as the emergency department. Face-to-face and bedside patient contact required. Required Qualifications Minimum of two years of customer service experience. High school education or equivalent. Ability to work in a proactive, self-directed manner. Multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with an aptitude for detail-oriented work. Ability to form and maintain working relationships within the organization to foster a team environment. Typing speed of 35 wpm with 95% accuracy. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire, from an AHA-endorsed program. Preferred Qualifications Experience in health care, collections, registration, or revenue cycle. Associate's degree in business, healthcare or related field. Experience in health care revenue cycle functions including insurance or registration. Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and Excel. Fluency in Spanish.
