Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Required certifications in BLS Description: The unit consists of 32 beds with fluctuating nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity, typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6. The Registered Nurse will manage post-catherization patients, including sheath and TR band management. Experience with TAVR is preferred. The unit provides overflow care for patients requiring chest tubes and medical populations necessitating telemetry monitoring. RNs will be required to titrate drips excluding pressors, paralytics, and TPA. A Charge Nurse is present on each shift, who frequently takes on a patient assignment. Patient care technicians are available, generally in a ratio of 1:15. Respiratory equipment management includes troubleshooting CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow systems. Respiratory therapy is available for assistance, with RNs placing patients on and off the equipment while RT sets rates. Centralized telemetry monitoring is in place, with RNs responsible for reading strips once per shift and with any changes in rhythms. Self-scheduling is offered, although the schedule is subject to change to maintain balance. Weekend requirements include six weekend shifts within a six-week period. Holiday requirements consist of two summer and three winter shifts. RNs may float to other floors as needed. Scrub color is Galaxy Blue. The cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
