Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM or 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with alternating on-call weekends

Position Overview

Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent for a direct-hire opportunity in Seaboard, North Carolina.

This is a key maintenance leadership position within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Superintendent will oversee maintenance operations, lead maintenance supervisors and skilled trades personnel, improve equipment reliability and uptime, and ensure maintenance activities are executed safely and effectively.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on maintenance knowledge, demonstrated leadership experience, and a background supporting mechanical and electrical equipment in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This individual should be comfortable working closely with production leadership, developing maintenance personnel, improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and driving a strong safety and reliability culture throughout the facility.

The position will oversee approximately 5 direct reports and 6-7 indirect reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop maintenance supervisors and skilled maintenance personnel.
• Oversee the execution of mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.
• Support maintenance supervisors and technicians with equipment troubleshooting and corrective-action planning.
• Monitor equipment breakdowns, preventive maintenance quality, work-order completion, and recurring equipment issues.
• Manage maintenance work-order tracking and ensure timely completion and proper documentation.
• Partner closely with production leadership to improve equipment uptime, reliability, and overall plant performance.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance planning processes, and long-range maintenance strategies.
• Coordinate technical training and employee development for maintenance personnel.
• Promote continuous improvement throughout the maintenance organization.
• Analyze equipment and maintenance performance data to identify trends, recurring failures, and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, safe work procedures, and company safety standards.
• Build and reinforce a strong safety-first culture across the maintenance organization.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to achieve safety, quality, production, reliability, and cost objectives.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with contractors, equipment suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
• Provide hands-on technical support and leadership on the plant floor when required.
• Support implementation of maintenance best practices and organizational change initiatives.
• Improve maintenance planning, scheduling, accountability, documentation, and execution.
• Support troubleshooting of plant mechanical and electrical systems and ensure appropriate follow-up after equipment failures.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance supervisory or maintenance leadership experience within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; 7+ years is strongly preferred.
• Experience within industries such as:
  • Wood products or lumber manufacturing
  • Pulp and paper
  • Steel or metals manufacturing
  • Chemical or petrochemical manufacturing
  • Automotive manufacturing
  • Other comparable heavy industrial operations
• Proven experience leading maintenance supervisors, technicians, mechanics, electricians, millwrights, or other skilled trades personnel.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Demonstrated understanding of equipment reliability and maintenance best practices.
• Hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting equipment breakdown response, root-cause investigation, and corrective actions.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safe work practices.
• Demonstrated ability to build and reinforce a strong safety culture.
• Experience developing maintenance schedules, work plans, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong leadership, team-building, coaching, and employee-development skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance, production, operations, and plant leadership.
• Strong organizational, planning, documentation, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated continuous improvement and change-management experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work onsite in Seaboard, NC and reside within approximately one hour of the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience managing maintenance planning and scheduling within a large industrial facility.
• Previous experience in lumber, wood products, pulp and paper, or a similarly equipment-intensive manufacturing operation.
