Location: Great Hearts Harveston Upper School (11801 Bluebonnet Blvd Baton Rouge LA 70810)
Reports To: Headmaster

Duties and Responsibilities:

Great Hearts teachers guide students in a variety of subjects across grades 6-12 including Humanities Math Science Fine Arts Languages and Physical Education. Teachers lead students through intelligence charisma humor moral integrity and examplein short through love and friendship. Ultimately our teachers strive to cultivate the minds and hearts of students in the wonder-filled pursuit of truth beauty and goodness.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth goodness and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students monitor progress and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture policies and expectations of Great Hearts including dress code conduct and safety procedures contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration school events assigned duties and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Fine Arts at Great Hearts:

• Fine Arts are part of the core curriculum at Great Hearts. They are not electives. All students study music drama poetry and studio art.
• Music coursework includes both applied or performance foci as well as substantive music theory history and appreciation.
• We boast a stellar faculty across the fine arts curriculum most of whom are professional artists and performers.
  

Required/Preferred Education:

• Bachelors degree (or higher) is required for a lead teaching role
• Certification is not required for general education roles.
• All majors are welcome to apply!
• Candidates must pass a background check.

US work authorization is required but we do accept OPT/CPT candidates.
