Scrub Technician First Assist

The CO-Scrub Tech - FIRST ASSIST is responsible for providing skilled surgical assistance in the operating room, with a focus on orthopedic procedures. This role involves preparing the surgical environment, assisting surgeons during operations, and ensuring adherence to safety and sterility protocols. The position requires certification as an OR Surgical Technician and current CPR certification, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field and surgical instruments for orthopedic surgeries.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies during procedures.
• Perform first assist duties as directed by the surgeon, including handling tissue, controlling bleeding, and suturing.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards in the operating room.
• Maintain and inspect surgical equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures.
• Collaborate with surgical team members to facilitate efficient and safe surgical care.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures and instrument usage.

• Certification as an Operating Room Surgical Technician.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum of two years of experience in orthopedic surgical assistance.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and operating room protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

• Additional certifications related to surgical technology or first assist roles.
• Experience with a variety of surgical procedures beyond orthopedics.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Must maintain current CPR certification at all times.
• Work is performed in an operating room environment requiring strict adherence to sterility and safety protocols.
• May require availability for on-call or extended hours depending on surgical schedules.

• Work schedule typically follows assigned surgical case schedules.
• Shifts may vary including day, evening, or weekend hours depending on surgical demands.
