The general supervisor provides day‑to‑day oversight and supervision of testing in the high‑complexity laboratory sections, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Histology, and the College of American Pathology (CAP). The role also monitors specimen handling and analysis to guarantee accurate results and performs administrative duties as delegated. General Supervisors assist with oversight of laboratory compliance in accordance with CAP standards to maintain accreditation. The supervisor reports directly to the Clinical Coordinator and Laboratory Administrative Director, with indirect supervision from the Laboratory Medical Director. Position Accountabilities Perform duties defined for CAP testing personnel (MLS or MLT). Assist the Laboratory Administrative Director in staff scheduling. Ensure compliance with CAP accreditation and determine procedure compliance. Lead implementation of changes and new policies to comply with CAP standards. Identify areas of failure and work with leadership to bring them into compliance. Coordinate self‑inspections and post‑inspection actions to address deficiencies. Interact with customer service representatives, vendors, and service members via telephone and on‑site. Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations, CAP and TJC standards, and provide necessary documentation for corporate compliance and billing. Position Qualifications Associate’s degree or graduation from a medical laboratory training program, and at least two years of laboratory training or experience in high‑complexity testing. Five years’ experience in a high‑complexity laboratory preferred. Required licensure: ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) credentials. Benefits Cost‑of‑living adjustment every July.
