The Director of Case Management is a senior leadership position within the Fifth Judicial Circuit. This role is responsible for directing, strengthening, and expanding the circuit's Case Management, Problem-Solving Court, and Mediation Services operations across all five counties.

The Director serves as a key member of the Circuit's senior management team, providing strategic direction, supervising multidisciplinary staff, and ensuring uniform, high‑quality service delivery. The position requires a confident, experienced leader capable of managing complex systems, building effective teams, and working collaboratively with internal and external justice partners.

The Director works independently and reports major activities, trends, and operational issues to the Trial Court Administrator and/or Chief Judge during scheduled leadership meetings. Travel within the 5th Judicial Circuit is required.

Distinguishing Characteristics Of Work

• Leads circuit‑wide case management initiatives for family, civil, and dependency.
• Supervises all Mediation Services operations, ensuring mediators follow established standards, deliver high‑quality service, and maintain consistent procedures across all circuit locations.
• Oversees all Problem-Solving Court programs, including staffing, workflows, compliance with program requirements, and coordination with treatment providers and justice partners.
• Ensures compliance with Florida Statutes, court rules, Administrative Orders, OSCA directives, and established circuit policies.
• Manages state and county budgets, grants, inventory, equipment, and program resources with strong fiscal accountability.
• Oversees performance standards, data integrity, workflow efficiency, and consistent procedures across Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties.
• Serves as a primary liaison with justice partners, including the State Attorney's Office, Public Defender's Office, Regional Counsel, DCF, DJJ, Clerks of Court, and OSCA.
• Provides leadership and guidance to Case Managers, Mediation staff, and Problem‑Solving Court personnel, promoting high professional standards, teamwork, and innovation.

Education And Training Guidelines

• Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social work, law, or a closely related field.
• Five years of related professional experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
• Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum County Court Mediation certification preferred: required within 6 months of hire

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Comprehensive understanding of Florida Statutes, court rules, and judicial branch policies.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including preparation of reports, data analysis, and presentations.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to coach, motivate, and manage staff.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement operational goals, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive matters appropriately.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, specialized court applications, and general technology systems.
