Senior Manufacturing Engineer; Mechanical Component, Hardware Engineering Thermal & Mechanical

Amazon Web Services’ Hardware Engineering team is looking for experienced professionals to help build the world’s premier cloud computing platform. We are looking for Manufacturing Engineers who are capable of operating in a fast paced, ever changing, multi-platform international manufacturing and production environment. Our Component Quality team works closely with our ODMs, CMs, internal AWS hardware and software development teams, and with upstream component vendors to scale up manufacturing processes and ensure we can achieve our throughput and quality targets. The engineer owns design all of the required tools, test fixtures and equipment needed for a product to launch and scale up across multiple sites world wide. This role requires the engineer to be a technical contact and take on full ownership of the manufacturing launch and resolution of process issues. You will be the driver in getting production scaled across a global network. You will own PFMEAs, Control Plans and process flows from startup through the end of life of the product. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilitiesScale up manufacturing on new mechanical and thermal products across a global network. Lead and oversee quality control processes across Contract Manufacturers (CM), Original Design Manufacturers (ODM), and component vendors Deliver hands-on technical support during new product introductions and launches Investigate and resolve customer escalations through comprehensive root cause analysis Support global operations through regular domestic and international travel (50-75% of time) Develop and implement manufacturing test fixtures at the Server and Rack level. Drive Lessons Learned and Process Standardization between sites. About the teamThe Hardware Engineering Mechanical/Thermal/Reliability (MTR) Engineering team owns the thermal and mechanical hardware designs of AWS servers and server racks and drives Operational Excellence end-to-end related to thermal and mechanical issues.Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
