Hello, My mother is an active 90- yr old but has arthritis in hips and some hearing loss. We live in the Northeast US and winters are just too hard! This year we have a 4-month stay planned in Rio Grand for her from Jan 15 - the end of April. Her children and grands will visit off and on but we want to make certain that she has consistent, reliable assistance during her stay. She is currently independent with her own home care needs such as medications, dressing, bathing and cooking but would need support with errands, companionship for taking walks, possibly cooking one meal a week and light housekeeping such as taking out trash or changing lightbulbs, This is a part-time, live-out position. We would anticipate 3-hr shifts, likely 2 to 3 times a week for the 3.5 month period. She speaks English only but is patient and willing to work with caregivers with limited English language if they are patient too, Voice to text tools can be useful both for translation and with her hearing challenges! .
