Description Creating a Better, Safer Kentucky At the Kentucky Department of Corrections, the Division of Reentry is recognized for offering offenders "a second chance to make a first impression." The mission of the division is to make Kentucky safer by reducing recidivism rates. Who wouldn’t want the chance to work within a program that directly impacts the safety of the communities we live in? As corrections professionals, it is all of our jobs to assist in the reentry of offenders. Working within the department, with community partners, and state agencies to increase community safety and reduce recidivism rates. The reentry Classification and Treatment Officer will be heavily involved in the planning, facilitating, and evaluation of pre‑release services for the reentry of offenders into the community. Characteristics of the Job: Perform duties in the evaluation and assessment of potential reentry needs of inmates in a correctional setting and performs other duties as required. Enhance community involvement with offender population by connecting offenders with providers that will assist them upon release. Monitor and facilitate PORTAL New Directions, Moral Recognition Therapy, and pre‑release programming as needed. Prepare monthly reports. Maintain files according to American Correctional Association (ACA) standards. The ideal candidate would possess: Strong verbal and written communication skills Planning and organizing skills Ability to multitask Attention to detail Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Ability to adapt to the ever‑changing needs of the department and division Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in corrections, law enforcement, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year for year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office setting within a correctional institution. Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
