Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neurology/Telemetry unit (6C) in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient telemetry experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient Neurology/Telemetry unit (6C) in a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center hospital
• 32-bed unit serving neurological, medical, and med-tele patient populations
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios vary: nights typically 1:6–1:7
• Equipment includes telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, and tube feeding pumps
• EMR: Epic
• Floating required on a rotational basis
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — must meet Missouri licensure eligibility requirements or hold a current MO or compact state RN license
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• NIHSS certification required prior to start (candidates may be considered without it if obtained before the start date)
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
• Competence in drug titration required
• 1 year of inpatient neurology experience preferred
• No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include direct patient care for all age groups: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neurological, medical, and med-tele patients
• Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and interdisciplinary departments
• Physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance; must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.
• High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available for the entire orientation week
• Black scrubs are required; no other scrub colors are permitted
• Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week of the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but should be aware that the bill rate differs from the posted travel rate
• The hospital holds a Leapfrog B Safety Grade and numerous recognitions including Highest CMS Star Rating in the area, Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Certification, and American College of Cardiology recognition
