JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor, operates a computerized tomographic x-ray machine to provide diagnostic quality exams for the purpose of diagnosing medical problems for the benefit of the referring physicians and their patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participates in the preparation and handling of all CT patients, including screening and the scheduling of patients when necessary. Reviews patient charts and history. Properly positions and transfers patients.

• Ensures proper operation of equipment within specified safety requirements and reports any needed repairs.

• Selects proper technical factors on equipment on an individual patient and exam basis.

• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and staff. Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

• Has full working knowledge of the CT scanner, contrast injector, PACS system and Corporate EMR and practice management systems.

• Displays proficiency in venipuncture and administration of contrast materials. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.

• Maintains patient records as required per departmental policies and procedures.

• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness in the Imaging department.

• Assists Radiology Supervisor in the maintenance of prescribed standards and quality control programs.

• Assists in the maintenance of and adherence to an inventory management program.

• Must be able to perform CPR keep current skill evaluation through American Heart Association training.

• Must maintain self-responsibility for licensure, accrual of necessary continuing education requirements.

• Maintains OSHA safety standards.

• Replenishes supplies when appropriate. Assures supplies are viable, rotates stock and either alerts supervisor when supplies are needed or if authorized orders supplies.

• Responsible for policy/procedure changes as indicated in procedure manuals and meeting minutes. Reviews policy and procedure manuals annually.

• Maintains instruments and equipment according to established protocols (i.e., adjust, clean, replace). Adheres to a preventative maintenance program for instruments and equipment, as well as a log system for documentation of issues. Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions; identifies the need for and utilizes external services.

• Assists in research, development and implementation of new procedures and changes to existing procedures.

• Trains other personnel and students as directed.

• CT Techs perform x-rays within the department, as needed.

• CT Techs perform C-arm procedures in the Ambulatory Surgery Center, as needed.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• ARRT certification; graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Must hold and maintain a State of Florida license throughout employment in this position.
• Must hold and maintain Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in radiology field; 2-3 years CT experience preferred.

• Strength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Sedentary (exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally)
• Standing/Walking: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time

• Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods.
• Ability to perform constant repetitive hands and finger motions.
• Able to perform light work; stand and sit for 2-3 hours per day and walk for 1-2 hours per day.
• Ability to work in various positions (standing, sitting, bending, and walking) for extended periods of time.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks/motions and have good manual dexterity.
• Able to distinguish colors, hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice.
