About the clinic:

We're a small, independently owned outpatient orthopedic practice in Lakeland. Care here is hands-on and unhurried — patients see the same clinicians every visit, and treatment plans are built around them rather than around a template. Because the team is small, everyone's work is visible and everyone's input matters.

This role is a good fit for a PTA who wants real ownership of their caseload, a close working relationship with the supervising PT, and a say in how the clinic runs — not a mill.

What you'll do:

• Deliver treatment interventions per the plan of care established by the supervising physical therapist — therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, gait and balance training, and modalities as indicated
• Progress or modify interventions within the established plan of care, and communicate patient response, plateaus, and red flags to the supervising PT promptly
• Instruct patients and families in home exercise programs, body mechanics, and self- management strategies; verify understanding and follow-through
• Document treatment accurately and same-day in [Strata PT], including objective measures, patient response, and skilled justification supporting the billed units
• Apply CPT coding and time-based billing rules correctly, including the 8-minute rule and appropriate use of modifiers
• Monitor progress toward goals and flag patients approaching authorization limits, plan- of-care expiration, or discharge readiness
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment; support infection control and safety standards
• Contribute to clinic flow — scheduling continuity, patient follow-up, and reducing no- shows and drop-offs
• Participate in case discussions and ongoing clinical development with the supervising PT

Required qualifications:

• Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current Florida PTA license, or license-eligible with exam scheduled (must be licensed prior to patient care)
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Working knowledge of orthopedic conditions, post-operative protocols, and manual therapy fundamentals
• Ability to document clearly, defensibly, and on time
• Willingness to practice under the supervision requirements of the Florida Physical Therapy Practice Act

Preferred qualifications:

• 1+ years in an outpatient orthopedic setting
• Experience with [Strata PT] or a comparable outpatient EMR
• Familiarity with commercial, Medicare, and workers comp documentation expectations
• Manual therapy coursework or certification
• Comfort working autonomously in a small-team environment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical requirements

Able to stand, walk, kneel, and squat for extended periods; lift, transfer, and guard patients; demonstrate exercises; and lift up to [50] lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Schedule
