Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Water/Wastewater to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning and closeout. This role will involve managing projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, utilities and associated civil, mechanical and electrical works. You will be responsible for establishing project objectives, programmes, budgets and resourcing plans while ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.


Key responsibilities will include coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams, managing consultants, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders, and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. You will oversee procurement, contract administration, cost control, risk management, change control and reporting, while identifying and resolving issues that may affect project delivery. The successful candidate will also lead progress meetings, maintain accurate project documentation, support approvals and regulatory compliance, and ensure that health, safety, environmental and quality requirements are embedded throughout the project lifecycle. You will be expected to build strong working relationships with clients and delivery partners, provide clear commercial and technical updates, and promote a collaborative, accountable project culture.


Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering or related infrastructure sectors, supported by a relevant degree or professional qualification. A strong understanding of construction methodologies, design coordination, programme management, risk and commercial controls is essential. Experience with NEC or similar forms of contract, procurement processes and regulatory requirements would be advantageous. You will need excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a complex delivery environment. Professional project management accreditation or progress towards chartered status is desirable.
