Clinical Inpatient Surgery Specialist - Inpatient Surgery - The Jewish Hospital

The Clinical Information System Specialist (CISS) is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating materials and resources to ensure accurate patient surgical billings, surgery scheduling, statistical and/or financial analysis.

Essential Job Functions

• Develops and maintains on-demand ad-hoc reports. Develops, collects, and monitors statistics as requested.
• Assumes role of charge entry as needed with a high degree of accuracy. Assures all patient charge sheets are received and entered correctly and timely. Notifies Perioperative Leadership of any problems and seeks clarification as needed.
• Collaborates with Supply Chain to resolve interface issues and ensure proper charge reconciliation.
• Assumes role of secretary and/or scheduler as needed. Accurately schedules avoiding conflicts. Notifies Perioperative Leadership of add-ons, cancellations, and changes to the schedule.
• Provides on-going, first level application support, completes daily, monthly, and yearly close functions and appropriate reporting of the same.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient data including medical history and diagnosis. Safeguards sensitive internal information both verbal and written.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth, keeps updated on current trends in computer systems and related fields by networking with peers.
• Participates in department performance improvement.
