Naval Mission Planning System (NavMPS) STORM/CMBRE Systems EngineerSabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Naval Mission Planning System (NavMPS) STORM/CMBRE Systems Engineer (Journey / Senior) for support to the Strike Planning and Execution Systems Program Office (PMA-281) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. This Systems Engineer will support the NavMPS (Naval Mission Planning System) IPT with a focus on modernizing the Common Mission Bit Reprogramming (CMBRE) munition testing. This is a custom hardware and software solution that is used by Aviation Ordnance operators to BIT test and reprogram modern munitions. The program is focused on upgrading the legacy CMBRE system to address software and hardware obsolescence as well as implement new capabilities required by modern network enabled weapons and high tempo military operations. The managing Program Office operates out of Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD. This position allows for remote or hybrid (mixed on-site and telework) efforts, with a monthly presence at the Program Office. Requires travel up to eight times per year. A Secret clearance is required.The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:Applying systems engineering processes to the analysis, design, development, and documentation of the CMBRE system.Translate complex mission domains into requirements and digital architecture using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).Manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to ensure seamless physical, electrical, and logical integration of CMBRE hardware and software.Mitigate hardware obsolescence (DMSMS) and plan technology insertion/refreshes for long-term program sustainment.Lead major DoD milestone reviews to establish and maintain technical baselines.Lead multi-disciplinary, joint action teams (Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force) of SMEs, engineers, and aircrew to resolve engineering and software challenges.Collaborate with Air Force counterparts on CMBRE-CE modifications to support Navy-specific requirements.Partner with leadership, vendors, and software leads within an Agile development framework.Coordinate with the TPO and Suppliers on HWIL, SIL, and environmental/electromagnetic testing (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461) to qualify physical hardware for fleet use.Coordinate with the WSESRB to manage safety testing, documentation, and operational approvals.Drive cyber, security, and software certification requirements to ensure the modernized system is fully verified and validated.Lead program risk management, tracking mitigation efforts across assigned engineering tasks.Participate with development of technical SOWs and oversee vendor performance during TIMs, PMRs, and CDRL reviews.Formulate project plans, cost estimates, and technical reports to brief Senior NAVAIR Leadership on program status.QualificationsA technical or scientific degree from an accredited college or university and experience requirements per contract.Demonstrated experience in the area of systems engineering expertise is required.Ability to travel within CONUSEligible and able to retain an active secret clearanceMust be U.S. CitizenExperience in any of the following areas is considered enhancing but is not required.Experience working Department of War (DoW) programsExperience with acquisition efforts (Cost, Schedule, Planning, Reporting, etc.)Working software development and sustainment programs.Working hardware information technology (IT) development projects.Experience with munition safety assessment and WSESRB certification.Experience with munition data interfacesPrior military experienceExperience with DoW mission planningProducing and using Model Based Systems Engineering artifactsAgile software processesCyber and system securitySoftware and computer technologies such as: Architectures, Networks, Mobile Platforms, Containerization, LinuxSoftware safety, testing, accreditationsCompensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
