DEPARTMENT: SOCIAL SERVICES (DSS) DATE POSTED: SEPTEMBER 21,2026 CLOSING DATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 2026 HIRING RANGE: $54,312.00 - $73,289.00 POSITION NUMBER: 40001362 JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME, EXEMPT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Work involves providing ongoing case management for families participating in Work First Employment Services. This includes monitoring progress in their efforts to achieve self-sufficiency, providing guidance, and addressing any challenges or barriers that may arise. Ensuring families are complying with the requirements of the Work First program, sucha as participation in work activities or job search efforts. This involves the review and calculation of participation hours, and timely notification to the benefits worker when non-copliance or reported changes occur. Conduct initial assessments to identify a family's needs and self-sufficiency goals, including assessing barriers to employment such as lack of skills, child care needs, or transportation issues. Complete orientations for new families in the Work First program, and work with families to develop and implement a Mutual Responsibility Agreeemtn (MRA), which outlines the responsibilities of both the family and the worker in achieving employment goals. Reasses and update the MRA per program policy. Connecting families with appropriate resources and services to address their specific needs. This may involve referral for job training, education, childcare, or other support services like mental health or substance abuse treatment. Collaboraing with other social service agencies, community organizations, and service providers to coordinate services to support families. Develop in-housr opportunities (such as resume labs, workshops, or job clubs) to provide more flexibility for participants. Maintain monthly job opportunities listing for program. Maintain accurate and up-to-date recrods and documentation in agency case management systems and NC FAST. Keying hours and outcome plans timely in NC FAST and releasing beneftis for payment. Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail, and database software in performing work assignments. Ability to organize and consolidate information, maintain records, prepare reports, and complete assignments accurately and timely. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Exceptional Customer Service and Computer skills. Good workking knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to arrange and organize records, reports, files and other documents into a defined sequence. Ability to use a variety of standard office equipment. Data entry experience preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative supervisors, with members of case load and their families, and with various community organizations. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in a human services field such as social work, counseling, psychology, special education, deaf education, rehabilitation counseling or marriage and family therapy from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in social work, counseling, preferably with the client population; or bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in counseling or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of NC FAST Certification within 90 days of employment. DRIVING REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have valid drivers license and acceptable driving record. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of community resources for assist families with identified barriers in obtaining self-sufficiency.
